12/18 months experience
Hi,
I just got my assessment from ACS. They say that my qualifications are equiv to
Bachelors degree in Computing and I am suitable for migration. Yet, they didn't
include the statement that I qualify for the MODL list.
I have work experience as software developer in the 3 years preceding my ACS
application, but most of the time this overlapped with my University studies. In your
opinion, was this overlap the reason why ACS did not approve me for a MODL
occupation, and does such overlap disqualify my work experience for satisfying the
"12 out of 18" requirement in front of DIMA?
In other words, I wonder if I need to finish my Masters degree now, then work for 1
more year and finally apply.
Any comment would be highly appreciated... Thanks!

Re: 12/18 months experience
I had 2 years experience and was surprised not to get the MODL sentence in my
approval letter from the ACS. The unofficial reason for this was that I jumped from
technology to technology with each change of project, thereby I didn't have a total
of 1 year experience in any one thing. I guess I could've argued SQL and HTML were
commonalities in all of my e-commerce project, but didn't bother. Am just hoping the
points won't go up and I won't need the 5 MODL points. Try an unofficial request by
probing ACS with an email.

As far as I know, if you were paid for 25 hours or more per week they will accept the
experience. I had the same case for a few months, and there was no problem.
MODL - apparantly it's 4 years minimum in one technology to get it.

according to http://www.acs.org.au/national/accre...os-require.htm
"Migration Occupation in Demand List (MODL) Applicants that wish to be assessed
against the MODL (see General Skilled Migration booklet,
DIMA) must provide employer references covering a minimum of 12 months as supporting
documentation, hi-lighting the experience they wish to be considered. The MODL
nomination section of the application form should also be completed."
I think the 4 year rule applies to MCSE candidates, not sure.
Yavor, have you decided whether to get a re-assessment?

No, I will just take the risk and apply without the MODL.
