Hi
Thanks. We are looking to rent and won't be buying unless we get permanent residency.
An English guy who originally comes from Brighton called me today. He owns a flooring firm in australia and is really keen to employ me on a full time basis. They are currently looking into the sponsorship now as I'd be the first. He said the company is doing very well and not many are as specialised as me or the ones that are are near to retirement.
If We don't end up getting permanent residency then at least we can come back with an experience. you only live once. YOLO
He also said the kids have their PE lessons on the beach and have surfing lessons. Sounds better than the cross country I got to do

You need to understand what a 457 visa is.
First, it is a temporary visa with no automatic path to anything else. So, you would have to assume you would be returning at the end of the visa which is between one day and four years.
It is tied to the employer, so, if you were to lose the job for any reason you would have 60 days to find another company willing and able to sponsor or leave the country - not many company's can not sponsor.
There are a range of other issues such as many states including WA charge for eduction for any children on temporary visas

I wouldn't trust employers for sponsorships/457s. There's no guarantee at the end, and you could wind up completely shafted like we've been. Even more so, now that my husband's job has been removed in Dutton & Turnbull's latest crusade to prove who can be the biggest a**ehole.

Even trying to look objectively at it, it just seems like the UK, US, and Australia are in a race to the bottom. Our own situation aside, my heart breaks for people who have suddenly found themselves without any options. It's incredibly painful, and the people inflicting it just don't care.
