Smile *After validating your PR Visa - how long can you stay in UK before having to leave?*

Hello

Can anyone clarify this from experience or know of someone who has done this (I.E. Validated their PR Visa and then continued living in the UK right up until near the end of their visa time limit?)
I was under the impression that you could stay in UK or wherever until near the end of the Visa entitlement. Have seen somewhere on here that it makes it difficult to get a RRV once in Oz if you have not lived there for around 2 years before visa runs out...... Hope I'm making myself clear on this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You don't need to be living in Oz until the five year visa period is nearly up if you don't want to. But yes it would be hard to get an RRV immediately you get there, though it shouldn't be difficult once you have been living there a while and put down roots (home, job, car, family etc). Not having an RRV is only a problem if you need to leave Australia. You can stay in Oz forever as long as you arrive before your five years is up, but they won't let you back in after the five years without an RRV (at least as a permanent resident).

Thanks for that
Wasn't looking at applying for an RRV for a years or so but you never know what might happen back in the UK with family, etc. Have a wee house there already and would hopefully be in fulltime jobs. Have an Uncle, Aunt and loads of cousins there but don't know if that would make a difference........
Anybody else got anything to say on this matter?????????

You can only get an RRV if you can prove that Australia is your usual residence. So if you've only been there a short time it could be unlikely you'd get one.

It's 2 years physical presence OR "substantial ties" (usual residence is one way to have substantial ties, but there are others).

If you have the 2 years, they do not look at "usual residence". That criterion was done away with around 1996.

Firstly - thanks for the new replies which are greatly appreciated!
We have already got a wee house that we rent out at the moment in Qld and will hopefully have jobs (full or even part time for starters) and a car, etc plus family (Uncle, Aunt and 8 cousins.....) so would this count as considerable ties even if we had only been staying several months before trying for an RRV?
Sorry but I still haven't gotten to the bottom of this yet - to put my mind at ease........!
Any other tips on this matter or similar???????????????????????
