**Please Read.457.in Perth on tourist**
Hello everybody i always keep an eye on the forum and know hope that it will come of help to me.
I am currently in Perth on an 817(year tourist visa) with the intention of trying to get sponsored. i came to oz in 2009 on the 2 year working holiday visa, i have been al over the country laying bricks as that is my trade. i got into the mines in 2010(thus why i have saving`s to have 1 year tourist visa and no debt house, kids) was in there for a year before travelling threw Asia and back to uk for 6 months.
I have come back here to find a sponsor as i know its pretty hard over in uk to get one in my game and bricklaying has been taken of residency skill list.
So i am looking for a chance to be sponsored, i have fork ticket, lots of trade assistant experience, processing & construction mine experience and also my trade as a bricklayer. I have been here a month now and still cant get a lead.
I check seek, gumtree, send emails off and still to nothing yet i thought people would see my willingness that have flown back across the globe too make my life here and still cant work to prove myself
I am looking for advice and hopefully a sponsor, i am willing to work on trial for free and also gain any tickets needed.I can send my CV by email
Hope someone out there can help as the uk is dead and do not want to go back to that S***H**E.
Thanks for reading and even if your in another state i willing to relocate i just came to Perth because that's where most of the work and money .
Thank You
eggman

Weird ... you don't read like a native Brit. You do know that other nationalities are allowed on BE don't you.
I am not sure what is your question though? Are you asking if we can find a sponsor for you? I don't think that is going to happen.

You're pretty unlikely to find sponsorship as a brickie or any similar trade, even if they are on the relevant skills lists - many tradies here are crying out for work, and companies will be reluctant to sponsor if there are cheaper options available.

You sound perfectly British (typing on a phone maybe?) to me.
Anyway, I have to agree, I don't think you will have much luck finding a sponsor. Most trades (as I am sure you will have experienced in your two years) just employ people on casual contract. This means they can't then sponsor (and probably wouldn't want to). From what I have read finding work as a bricky is nearly as hard here as in the uk.
Also, I would be very careful about offering to do trials. I can't see an immigration officer being too happy with that if they caught you on a holiday visa (which is supposed to be for holidaying, not finding work). Also, you would likely not be covered by work cover or insurance if you got hurt.
Good luck.

"native brit" followed England away in qualify s till 2008 including Germany and Portugal euros and world cup. been back and forth 6 times in nearly 3 years(and yes thats a lot of $$$ss on flights) i just think England is doomed...no jobs...kids of today and immigration out of control
It states on my visa that i can do some "volunteer work" so i think a trial might be ok.. i understand about work comp and am willing to still take anything on.
I still think there is plenty of work here(got offered work within 4 days of being back, but not worth risking my future here) its just word of mouth and that what i am doing posting this thread
its seems a lot more over in oz its not what u know but who u know

What is all who you know? Sorry I am not quite sure with such poor English and grammar. I gather I was correct though, you have visited UK but are not a native. As Polly has said, you could tick some people off with abusing the country many people call home. And I assume the poor English is nothing to do with being on a mobile, not considering you have made same post word for word on another forum, not easy from phone.
Anyway, people parrot this who you know thing, but in my life it has definitely always been the what I know that has mattered, regardless of where I have lived. The who I know has never come into it, not in UK and not here in Australia either.

Copying and pasting is easy on my phone (95% of my posts are by phone).
It depends on the industry too. The job I did in the uk people here were crying out to sponsor me just from my cv (but couldn't at the time as it was too specialised to be on any list).
The job I do now though, which I trained here for is totally who you know (the whole industry, not just my job), or just being in the right place at the right time.

@ shorts....
i was born and bred in the north west... i have followed England abroad for years with the football team...I have a great interest of world war 2 and the sacrifice people made and have visited arnhem an normady. All of my family are british.
yes my spelling and grammar is poor... but as long as i can correctly count up the bricks at the end of the week and use my basic maths to set out jobs i think i will do just fine thank you... and its done just fine so far
so im sorry if my spelling, grammar and poor computer skills don`t make me a "British native" but i come on hear for advice and word of mouth does work
I have had many jobs threw friends out here and also got friends jobs,it still comes down to whether u can do the job or not.
I set up this thread for advice and maybe somebody knows someone who could help
yet u are just posting nothing positive at all and judge my nationality on weather i can spell or not
i love oz... i not escaping UK and it has slowed down a little hear on the job front in past 12 months but nothing compared to the UK and i know there is a big problem with drugs...but really....compared to the UK..this place is years behind which is why i love it so much

How about we get back to topic instead of trashing the UK or debating English usage.

Might also be worth posting a thread in the main Aussie forum with a title that indicates the type of fields you are looking for sponsorship in, many people in there have connections in the mines etc but don't frequent this part of the forum much

Let's cut to the mustard. What skills have you got that says to en employer "I am so much better than what you can recruit from the local labour force that it is worth spending $10k+ on arranging a visa for me". Given a huge amount of builders in Oz who are fully qualified are scrimping for work, you have to ask are you really a viable candidate. Not trying to be nasty, just pointing out the way a employer will see it

Re: **Please Read.457.in Perth on tourist**
Pollyanna is correct about the volunteer work. There was a statement from immigration I think about three years ago as to what they count as volunteer work. I am pretty sure they said it had to be for charities etc, as many employers were taking advantage of people either on student visas or tourist visas to get cheap or free work out of them.
