$A Bond

$A Bond
Still waiting for PC should be here by 10th June, we will then be asked for $A100,000 bond, can anyone give us info regarding where to get the bond, and the likely timescale DIMIA will ask us to provide bond, hopefully we will get better rates if we wait a couple of months, and how long after we get the bond before we get the Visa. Has anyone been asked to lodge the bond and not get the Visa?
Southeast Queensland October (we hope).

We have recently been through the process so I can answer some of your questions.
We emailed the four treasuries and asked them for their current rate of interest and terms. Once we'd selected a treasury we completed their application form. We faxed their application form together with bond request form to the treasury and posted the originals off to the treasury the next day. We arranged a telegraphic transfer from our bank account to the nominated treasury account . We emailed Dimia a week later to confirm whether they had received the forms and they confirmed that they had and that a letter was on its way to us. A week after the letter arrived confirming that our visa was granted.
We were given 49 days to lodge the bond so there is a time limit.
I think it is pretty rare to be asked to lodge a bond and not receive a visa.
The following link was posted by Alan Collet and has all the info you need including contact details of the 4 Treasuries. You'll also find their address details in the Immigration Booklet.
Hope this helps.
Good luck

the forms are faxed and the originals are sent to the 'nominated treasury' and not dimia. Once the original copies of the forms are received by the treasury they then forward this on to Dimia.
Sorry for being so wordy, it's Friday and my brain has gone into standby mode.

Many thanks for the info, that makes us feel easier, just hope we can get a better exchange rate when bond is requested.
