URGENT HELP NEEDED PLEASE!!
We have friends living here on a 2 year work permit, expiring in June this year.
Their 6 year old daughters passport is due to expire in April and her student visa expires in March.
Now they have been told by NZIS that they cannot renew the visa without a valid passport and they cannot renew the passport in NZ as
they dont have the correct documents (only have short copies but need full birth certs, original marriage cert, they married in USA and only got a copy of original cert)
By the time these documents are applied for, and are processed, the visa and passport will have expired and their daughter can be deported along with the rest of her family.
It has been suggested that they fly back to the UK to renew he passport but obviously this will cost mega dollars.
Can anyone help point them in the right direction please?

Thanks for your replies.
It seems they were told the wrong info by NZIS over the phone, so they went armed with all their documentation to NZIS in Wellington and got it all sorted face to face!

Ha - We gave up asking NZIS anything over the phone and resorted to doing everything face-to-face... much better,far more reliable and much less contradictory advice given in person!
