Returning to the UK / Residency VISA / Travel Conditions
Hey guys,
So after three years (and a few days) in NZ we're now seriously contemplating returning to the UK permanently.
We have NZ Residency VISA's granted on 15/Jul/2011 with indefinite expiry dates, but the travel conditions (whatever they are) expire on 15/Jul/2013.
We had been considering going back to the UK before Christmas, but we wondered if there would be any benefit in waiting until after 15/Jul/2013 and if so, what that benefit would be?
I'm assuming that if we leave before 15/Jul/2013 that our residency status in NZ will expire, but if we wait until afterwards, the Residency status will remain and we could, should we want to, return at any time in the future to NZ - am I correct?

If you wait until around July 2013 you would become eligible to apply for a residency visa without the travel restrictions.
This would enable you to leave NZ indefinitely with the option to re-enter NZ at any time, whether it be after a few weeks, months - years.
The thing to consider though is that NZ immigration could alter these rules.
The only sure fire way to know one could re-enter NZ at any time is with citizenship.
