Default Permanent Residency Visa

Could anybody please explain the process once my wife and I move to NZ with Permanent Residency Visas. How long do we have to stay in NZ before can leave to go traveling for say six months or more. Once we have the PR visas and we are living in NZ is that all we need or do we have to reapply for them after so long.

this bit "You have been in New Zealand as a resident for a total of 184 days or more in each of the two 12-month portions of the 24 months immediately preceding your PRV application." is the bit you need to be aware of to get your travel conditions lifted
