I did email and query this as there was lots more in 2011 when we came over and here is there response.

Yes there are only 8 listed Panel Physicians (PP) for the UK. The list on the Immigration New Zealand (INZ) web site is correct.
Immigration New Zealand now requires medical results to be submitted via the emed system and has done since early 2015.
The UK PP's were already using such a system to assist with visas to Australia and when INZ moved over to this system those clinics were already equipped to undertake the process for us.
INZ relies on the clinic to approach us regarding becoming a registered PP who can facilitate the emed system. It may be that a clinic or doctors surgery in the UK does not action enough immigration medicals to warrant them becoming a registered PP. To instal the emed system and train the relevant employees would mean a significant cost to the clinic.
If you know of or work for a clinic which has an increase in enquiries about immigration medicals, the clinic can check the membership information provided within our web-site in the link below:

Despite the inconvenience for clients, it has to be understood that when emigrating to New Zealand the applicant has to demonstrate they are in good health and meet out health requirements. Especially if the intended stay in New Zealand is going to be for 12 months or longer.
The one consolation is that a clear medical provided to Immigration New Zealand with an initial application, will be valid for up to 36 months from its date of issue, should the client have to submit further temporary visas (Visit, work or student) or a residence visa.
