Default North Island...

Is HGV driving currently a skills shortage?

If it is what sort of visa will I apply for? Im male 25 and single.

Does a test need to be done or is it a straight swap?

Im asking in here as the trucking forum is like a morgue most of the time

Pretty sure NZIS doesn't see truck driving as a necessity for skill shortages.

Hi and welcome to this little BE NZ forum .

Truck Driver is on the New Zealand Immediate Shortage list. This means that an NZ employer is free to offer you a job if there is a vacancy. If you found a job offer you would apply for a temporary work visa/permit. This would allow you to stay , live and work in New Zealand for a few years.

If you are thinking to emigrate to NZ permanently , then please be aware that New Zealand doesn't see HGV driving as a skilled occupation. It might be possible to become a permanent resident as an HGV driver but it would be an uphill battle .
