National Security Check

Hi, finally I have submitted the application for residence under Skilled Migrant Category.

Does anyone know the purpose of National Security Check?

What does INZ do exactly? Would they call my parents to verify that they financially supported me for my high school, the summer between high school and college? Would they call my college to verify that I was actually enrolled in that college?

I am so confused about this and did not find any old thread. Thank you very much guys!

Not something I've ever heard of. A search on the NZIS website brought up a form for a National Security Check. Have you been asked to fill this in or it it something you've read about?
Part of the declaration at the end states:

I authorise any agency, whether in New Zealand or overseas, including but not limited to:
• border or immigration agencies
• education providers
• financial institutions
• foreign embassies and government authorities
• health care providers, and
• police or other law enforcement agencies,
that holds information (including personal information) related to information on this application form and/or
accompanying documentation, to disclose that information to Immigration New Zealand so that they can:
• make a decision on this application
• answer enquiries about my immigration status once my application has been decided.
I authorise any agency that holds information (including personal information) related to those matters to disclose that
information to Immigration New Zealand.

So I suppose they could contact anyone they felt they needed to.
