Exclamation Eligibility to work in NZ with Criminal Record

Hi There,

I am hoping somebody may help to provide some clarity on NZ's approach to VISA requests that involve a criminal record.

I have managed to secure a job offer in NZ but require a working visa.

Unfortunately, in my earlier years I have been convicted for Drinking Driving and common assault (very embarrassing and still shames me) and I am hoping this will not prevent me from working in NZ.

(Has been an ambition of mine for a long time)

I have a wife and 2 children who would be relocating from England also.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to say think it will come down to the Case Officer if you didn't get a jail sentence, if you did I think, as it was not that long ago, you may well have a problem

Just to add, if you go forward with this then the above phrase is at odds with the time periods you quote IMHO, I would have expected a much longer time period to have passed. As you acceptance may depend on the Case Officer I'd suggest you don't use such language, it may come across as misleading and trying to minimise the events. It certainly does to me.

What was the result. It is not what you did as such but what was the outcome.

Suggestion....get written letters of recommendation from as many respectable people you know. Professionals, Sports coach, Police, Doctor, Magistrate etc etc.....review your extended family there should be someone who will vouch for your character.
