Hi there.....uk average is 5.5 for men so would imagine NZIS would want to see a re-test with a lower result, I got mine down from 5.6 to 4.4 by eating porridge for lunch (dont have time for it at breakfast!) but there are several other drinks/foods on the market here that state they help lower cholesterol....'statins' also available from pharmacy here, not sure if same applies for you tho.

Other than that go back to GP and explain importance of reducing level & ask him to prescribe statins to help.

Re: cholesterol

Porridge and any aerobic exercise even walking brings down bad cholesterol levels and raises the good cholesterol.
