Default BRICKLAYING VACANCIES

i have heard there is a big boom going on in australia and that trades are in high demand, yet there are no bricklaying jobs being advertised. is new zealand looking for bricklayers and if they are how difficult is it to get in,australia is just impossible.

Hi there.

Bricklayers are not in shortage in New Zealand per the NZIS shortage lists. That doesn't mean that bricklaying jobs aren't out there but any NZ employer wanting to offer you the work will have to prove there is no NZ resident or citizen that could take up that employment.

Bricklaying is seen as a skilled occupation however , so if you gained a job offer and then took up that employment here on a temporary work visa you could , in theory ,go onto apply for residency.

All if's ands and buts though.

Thing with trade work , it really needs to be boots on NZ turf.
