Default Anyone out there going over with Specsavers and/or on a LTBV?

Hi,

I have been switched mid-track from a skilled migrant application to an LTBV. My husband would have been automatically entitled to work on my SM visa, but apparently needs his own application if I have a LTBV. He has nowhere near enough points on his own merit.

Anyone got any experience of this? Hubby needs to work!

What position are you going over in?
Are you buying a franchise?

Interested to hear NZIS reasons for the change of visa required

Hi,

Yes am buying a franchise, and was Speccies idea to change visa.

This whole process is getting more expensive by the minute!

The LTBV is not for the faint hearted. You need specialised help for this .

I asked BE admin a while ago if I could occasionally link to a small website that is about the NZ business visas , including LTBV.

Try http://www.benz1.com/ltbv/ . Tell Ben that BEVS says Hi and do NOT be a stranger here coz we know about good NZ stuff too.

Thanks BEVS, will check it out.

Speccies lawyers (:curse are handling the paperwork for us, I just wondered about my husband's chances of getting a work visa.

I am getting quite weepy with the frustration of it all. I am afraid we will get refused, and have to start SM route again, and our money will run out and we'll be stranded here with nothing...

If your hubby needs his own application, but does not have enough points..... how can that work? I am no expert but it seems to me that LTBV can't be the right route for a couple where one is relying on the other for sponsorship i.e. the Partner scheme? What do your lawyers think? It would be best to find out now, not 6 months down the line.

I have to believe they know what they are doing - Specsavers have been incredibly generous and supportive - it's just such a torturous process.

Hubby's visa application is handled alongside mine, apparently, so the points thing doesn't matter.

We'll see

I know of someone who went Dunedin and got the LTBV, his wife found the business hard on her and they applied for a work visa for her which she got. PM me if you like and I'll give you more info.

I'm sure someone would correct me if I'm wrong about this, but I would've thought that LTBV is NOT the quickest of visas to obtain
