Default Am I reading this wrong?

Hi

Sent off ITA on 5th January and we were preparing ourselves for long wait. I checked the London Office webiste and they are quoting 4 months to be allocated a case officer.

However we received a letter today from a Visa Officer (I assume our case officer) and it says he hopes to make a decision in 1-3 months. Does that mean we don't have to wait the four months before a case officer is assigned or is this just a standard letter?

Confused!

Thanks

Think it is a standard letter but also think you're right.....you have been assigned a C/O and if letter says you will have decision in 1-3 months then thats what should happen. Email or phone visa officer and ask him to clarify for you.....I found them very helpful.

You get allocated a visa officer quicker if you have a job offer, infact the whole process is quicker with a job offer.

Thanks for the info. I daren't contact them because I don't want them to change their mind! We don't have a job offer, although we do have 135 points and husband has teaching qual and he has registered with the teaching council. we do get a decision in 1 to 3 months.

Can I ask those people who have been waiting for 4 months for case officer, what letter did you receive when they acknowledged receipt of your ITA? Our status on the website is ITA lodged and pending.

Thanks

Hi There

We waited just over 4 months for a case Officer to be allocated and after we had taken our ITA we had a letter which said 'We hope to allocated your file to a case officer within the next 4 months and we expect to make a final decision on your case in the one to three months following allocation'. Now it may well be different now, but is it possible your letter says the same with the 1 - 3 months bit being after allocation. Just a thought?

yeah ours said the same thing in our letter.
Our ITA was lodged on Sep 11th - so just over 4 months ago, and we're still waiting for a case officer! Grrrr!

Thanks again for your replies. Think we will just keep our fingers crossed. I hope all those waiting for a case office hear something soon.

Can I ask those waiting for a case officer - did they cash the aplication fee immediately or do they take it when your case officer is allocated?

yeah I know, I saw that on NYE - me and the other half now have bets on when we get allocated a case officer. Kind of hoping I win because then I win a fiver, but the other half bet an earlier date, so I wouldn't mind missing out on a fiver!
