Yet another GOT IT!!!
Oh well our turn now... after almost two years we can finally say it.
Here our timeline w/some milestones.
Sept. 2001 --> Entered Canada (Toronto) w/Work Permit [company
tranferee]
Oct. 2001 --> Applied through the federal skilled worker program
(Buffalo)
Dic. 2001 --> Got AOR
================================================== ============
Sept. 2002 --> My Company moves to Montreal. Got new Work Permit & my
wife gets an Open Work Permit.
Nov. 2003 --> Letter from Buffalo saying an interview is required,
file transfered to Detroit.
Dic. 2002 --> Apply for Quebec CSQ. Informed to Buffalo & Detroit that
our intended destination has changed.
Mar. 2003 --> CSQ Interview. Passed smoothly, got the CSQ the very
same day.
Mar. 2003 --> Letter from Detroit, Interview is not requiered.
Additional documents requested.
Jun. 2003 --> Fax from Detroit requesting to do Medicals.
Oct. 2003 --> Passport request for visa stamping!
Nov. 2003 --> Got the passport back & landend on CIC Lacolle (border
w/the states)
In this whole process I have to layoff an immigration lawyer, it is
from Toronto (from Oct/2001 to Dec/2002 he/she was handling the case)
I can't say his/her name cause I'm in the process of filing a
complaint with the Ontario Bar Association. There were a number of
reasons to have that lawyer removed from our case, to mention a few:
- several mistakes on our applications. From spealling errors to some
gross errors which make doubt about his/her qualifications.
- Buffalo called the interview cause to them, it was not clear what
was my job in Canada! I had provided letters from my employer and job
description to the lawyer...
- Once we moved to Montreal he/she sugguested we should not apply for
a CSQ and in the interview (for the federal) mention that our intented
destination still was Toronto.
I don't know if my case is similar or not to others, I guess each one
is diferent in the same way each person is unique.
Please do not take my comments about my experience w/an immigration
lawyer as the one to lead you to make a decistion to whatever use one
or not. On this same newsgroup there are a few good people that
usually offer advice for free. It is wrong to generalize, a black
sheep means that black sheeps do exist and NOT that all sheeps are
black.
All in all it has been a long and in times emotional process.
We would like to thanks to all of you who post questions and answers
on this newsgroup, it really helps a lot.
Best of luck to you all,
Thanks / Merci !
