Default work permit during PR application

Hello,

I have raised this question earlier, but from another angle.

I applied for PR (Skilled Worker) in Dec. 03. Now I am considering a job in
Toronto. Surely, the employer will go through HRDC to obtain validation. My
question is what are my chances of getting work permit when I have applied
for the immigration? In the guidelines for work permit application (Buffalo)
I read that the officer will issue the work permit only when he is sure that
the applicant will leave Canada once the permit is over. Also there is a
question on the form - have you ever applied for immigration, TRV etc. I
don't intend to hide that I applied for the immigration, however, what are
the chances that the permit will be approved given that HRDC will give
validation. It also says that the medical exam is required to obtain the
work permit which might take time.
- What will be the timeline after HRDC approval is received to receive the
answer from CIC about work permit?
- How long does it take for the medicals and visa approval?

Thank you in advance!
EK
