Default Work Permit

Hi there,

My girlfriend lives in Canada and I am looking to move to be with her.

Having read through the the information posted here and on
http://www.cic.gc.ca/ it seems that the easiest way for me to achieve this
quickly is to get a work permit.

I work in IT (although not in a role eligable for the national confirmation
program) and have heard bad things about the state of the IT market in
Canada. I am looking to move to Toronto or possibly Markham and have applied
for a few positions.

Does anyone have any experience of timescales and how difficult it is to
achieve HRDC confirmation, or even better advice for gaining a work permit
in the area of IT?

As I think it will be difficult to gain a solid offer whilst in the UK I am
thinking of flying to Toronto within the next few weeks for a month or so to
apply for positions. Whilst doing that I will be working for my current
employer remotely.

I was wondering if there was anything stopping me coming in as a business
visitor and applying for jobs, and how long I could viably stay under this
visa?

My one last question (sorry there are so many I just want to be sure of this
before I do it!) ...

If everything goes well and i get a job offer is it possible to send this
back to the UK to be posted to Canadian Embassy in London? And then it would
be a case of crossing a border and coming back in with the new visa?

Thanks for any help in advance - it is greatly appreciated.

James
