Default Work Experience Inquiry

Fellow immigration experts,
I have questions regarding the work experience points for Permanent
Resident status.
The company I used to work has gone out of business (a part/a
subsidiary company of Enron scandals).
I haven't been able to get any letter from them stating my main
duties, salary, etc for [Canada] immigration purpose.

Can I use W2 forms from IRS as an alternative to the letter from an
employer? Is there a better solution?

I have started my small IT consulting business (Limited Liability
Company, LLC). I registered my business with U.S. Department of
Commerce and local/state government.
Can I use my self employment to gain work experience points?

Thank You in advance.

But how come you never got an experience letter when you left the company.

The company could have gone out of business but you should have remembered to use your last day in office to get the need full or surely you must have some contact with your previous managers or collegues. Have one of them write the experience letter.. along with your last w2 and state the reason on your application..

With out experience letter you application will get flagged and process slowed down .. and will need a mandatory interview..

Hi, didn't you take some company headed notepaper?, even if you have a letter from them that is headed(eg a termination letter)scan it into your computer and hey presto fake something up yourself, its not as if they can check it so everyone is happy!
Not that I have done this of course(well not yet, I havent a scanner!)

Yes, I have the same question!

What about self-employment, does it give any points?

You must use what you can get. And don't listen to the guy who suggested
faking it. That would be the end of your chances forever.

It is a fraud what you are proposing. And it will be verified, contrary to
your belief. When fraud is found you may not only say goodbye to your PR
application but also to any Canadian visa application for number of years.

I totally agree with Mr. Humphries and Mr. Miller. I will do the
entire immigration process as legit as possible.

I was laid off and the company's management has been audited/replaced
by US Federal Authorities. Those Feds are not very receptive to the
need of people like me. How do I explain my situation to CIC...?
Can't CIC dig deeper through my W2s for my job description, length of
employmment, etc...?
As for self employment, will proofs of LLC establishment from US
Department of Commerce and local/state government be good enough for
work experience points?

Thank You
