Say we get in and son is at college in uk and wants to finish course ( could still have a year to go!! ) how does that work. If they say we can all come - will he be able to just come over when he wants and come for good when finished college - or does he have to leave college and (FAIL) his course?

Worried if he stays to complete course maybe he won't then be able to join us.

You typically have one year after the medicals to land in Canada and and complete the residency procedure. After that, he can spend up to three years outside Canada before moving over permanently.

If he doesn't land within a year, then the visa is void and he'd have to apply from scratch. But he can do that on a holiday trip and return to the UK afterwards.
