I was wondering how the new laws comes in to affect.

If someone applied before December 17 2001 and received an initial received
letter but the actual application has not been initially reviewed until say the
21st december 2001 does this mean they are reviewed under the new law or the old
points system.

thanks

It is not the application receipt date what decides if case is to be assessed under
new or old selection grid. All cases in Skilled Workers class which will not receive
interview waiver or pass the interview before the implementation of new law will be
assessed under new selection criteria, regardless when they were submitted. The only
difference for those cases will be that if they were received before December 17th,
2001 then the pass mark will be 75 points, while for applications received after that
date the pass mark will be 80 points.
