Default when to apply for landed immigrant status?

Question:
Supposing I have a clergy work visa permit that was granted to me
while in Canada as on visitors visa... when can I apply for permanent
residence as a landed immigrant in Canada? Is it after my work visa
contract or can I apply anytime now?

You may apply at any time as long as you qualify.

Hello Mr. Andrew Miller,

You are saying that a clergy has NO residency requirement (like for
example finishing is work contract with the Church that hired him, say
two-years contract, much like the Caregiver Program) before they can
apply for permanent residence in Canada?

Another question regarding his current Work Visa permit.
Would it be then alright for him to accept other job offers from
another denominations or another local church? This means changing his
current church employer to apply for extension of his work visa that
will expire in December 2002? How would CIC assess this new
development of applying for an extention of work visa with a new job
offer from a different church/denomination employer?

thank you for your quick response.

We are talking about applying as Skilled Worker if one qualifies and it has
nothing in common with live-in caregivers program. As for work permit - job
cannot be changed before new permit is granted.

Default Clergy to apply for new work permit under a different church

Hello Mr. Miller,
Can a clergy who is on work permit from one church (a Baptist Church)
that is soon to expires... apply for a new work permit under another
church (United Church). If yes, what lead time should he do that
before the expiration of his work permit under the Baptist Church?

Thank you again,

Rely
