What's my legal status while applying for Permanent Residance.
I wonder if anyone can clarify something for me.
I've applied for permanent residence from within Canada under the Provincial Nominee Program. My application is in progress (at Buffalo) and I have completed the medicals with all seemingly going well.
My temporary visa expires in august but I am hoping that PR will be through before then. But what is my status now? Whenever I extended my temporary visa, immigration assumed it would be accepted unless rejected. Legally I was allowed to remain.
Does a similar assumption apply with PR? Just curious, as to whether I should be ready to renew my work permit and temporary visa this coming august if a decision still hasn't been made on my case.
Many thanks.

Nope, you'd need to either switch to a visitor visa or extend your TWP/get a new one. There's no special status for you if you're awaiting PR.
HTH, and good luck.

If you have been sponsored by the province for a specific employer then you can obtain a letter (in lieu of an LMO) from the province in order to obtain/renew a temporary work permit.
