Default What is Spousal sponsorship time frame from UK to Canada

I am a British born citizen married to a Canadian hoping to see my wife in Canada soon.

1) I married last year in Canada Aug 2004.

2) I sent my application to message with relevant info in Oct 2004
(i.e. police certificate, medic forms, marriage cert. & IMM forms etc..)

3) End of Oct 2004 received conf from CPC everything in order sent to London visa office for processing.

4) Mid Nov receipt of application in London visa office waiting now for decision?

Does anyone have idea of how well London visa office is doing with Applications (timescale). Especially those who applied with same circumstances as me.

I would very much like to be out there by MAY , I am I being too optimistic.

Thanks

Bobby, How are you doing me ol china,

The fact that you got an acknowledgement card, and that everything on your form is honky dory, makes it look like you are on the right track, i have had friends that have done it from outside too, and for them it took from a year, to two years.

Hoping to be here in May is asking too much geezer, come of it, you didn't really think that is going happen did ya? While you are at it, make sure you do not do anything that is going to jeopardise your application.

Unless you have lived in many places around the world your application
should finish within the next few months.

I'm sitting about with the same timelines as you up to now. Before Xmas i
read on this NG someone posted there timeline that had them getting there
receipt from London and getting asked for there Passport 6 weeks later. I
kinda figured If all is well with my application i'd get the thumbs up
sometime this month perhaps next.

Good luck mate

Wow, I was about to ask the same question - and our timescales are pretty
close.
Submitted Nov 3rd, Sponsor approved Nov 25th, AOR from London rec'd December
16th.

I don't need to be out there by May, but I would like something (interview
waiver, passport request would be ideal!) by then, as that's when my
conjugal partner has to renew the lease on her rented student house, and
needs to know if I will be living there or not. If I know i'm going, I don't
mind paying the rent until August which is when would be ideal to go.

There was a guy on here called Todd who applied as Conjugal being
sponsored - his app being dealt with by Buffalo. His was a submit-passport
request in less than 5 months. But that's Buffalo. Be nice if it could be
replicated over here!

I think it wouldn't be unreasonable for you to get an interview waiver by
May, but the visa itself could be pushing it a bit.

Good luck!

Now that's good! Do you remember vaguely who this was?
I'd love to go back through Google and confirm that - it's been just over 6
weeks for me now.
All I want is an interview waiver by May - anything else would be a bonus!

Good luck!

I'm sponsoring my husband, he's British and I'm Canadian/British. Here's our timeline:

Applied to Mississauga - 14 April 2003
Approval to sponsor - 28 April 2003
AOR from London - 12 May 2003
Letter to attend interview - 25 September 2003
Interview - 12 November 2003
(Got married - 18 December 2003)
Received passport request - 9 February 2004

Not the quickest timeline I'm afraid!

Thanks for your response.

No i havent lived outside the UK.

The visa office states on reciept of application that i will get a response within 6 months. IT has been 3 months already and and my case is pretty straight foward.

It all depends i suppose how much work load they have at london visa office I guess.

regards
Bobby

HI ,

Now that buffalo process application quicker. Americans immigrating to Canada through spouse or conj. partners are done quicker.

But London I don't know i suppose it will depend on there backlog.

I hope this is a good year for applying.

That's promising, I have also been told that i could hear a response within next few months and if it is standard case they might like that person you talked about request for passport straight away without Interview.

The more people we find who applied around our time to London visa office with same sort of circumstance might help us get rough idea of there processing time in CHC in London.

It would seem that the thinking about interviewing and then the subsequent
interview dragged things out here.
Interesting that you got married post-interview.
Are you the couple where you applied under Conjugal, and you were given
three months after the interview to get married and come back?

No, that was another couple, but we did get told the same thing.

The letter we got requesting the passport did say it could take up to 28 days to get the passport back.

And yes, it has been an agonising wait, but it's almost over now!

I'm sure it won't be long! Especially if the time is used to shop for
flights and pricing up the shipping of his stuff! :-)

But I am worried about this whole Conjugal/London thing. I know of three
other couples who have done this through London now, one was refused, and
two were given marriage-or-forget-it ultimatums. It seems to me that CHC
London either won't recognise this Conjugal Partner route, or don't
understand the selection criteria.
For many personal reasons, my partner and I are not inclined to get married
in the near future. Indeed, if it was that simple that's what we would have
done to begin with.
Can I ask what they told your husband at the interview? What was their
reason for refusing the Conjugal Relationship? If they don't believe the
relationship is a genuine one (which is the only real reason for refusal in
my view), then why are they offering the simple get out that if you have a
bit of paper saying you're married, then it suddenly becomes very genuine.
I'm confused and worried!
