I am planning on landing next weekend in BC... we are driving a u-haul
truck... my fiance is from canada and he is flying down and we are
driving back up from california.. when we get to the border from
washington is there anything thing we can do to be fully prepared for
what they will need from us.. is there anything thing we can do to
make it easier other then having my documents for PR???

This is my experience from August-end when I crossed over into Ontario from
Fort Erie (close to Niagara Falls) border:

1. The USA official was literally sitting on a wooden stool in the middle of
the road, looking very uninterested in everything. She asked me where I was
going and why. I replied, Toronto, Immigrating. She waived me on. No
paperwork was asked for and none showed.

2. On the Canadian side, the border post officer asked the reason for coming
to Canada, checked our landing documents and passport and then gave us a
slip of paper to present at the immigration desk next door.

3. The immigration officer was very friendly. Checked our paperwork (landing
papers, passport, marriage certificate). Asked to see proof of fund. Also
asked for local address. Once these all were verified he took us inside and
took pictures for the Maple Leaf Card and told us to proceed to customs.

4. Presented my car title to customs. Wrote a check for CAD$180 to customs
to import car. Filled out declaration form for all goods accompanying us and
to follow. I had that done before and had a printout with me - customs
accepted it without question. Did not even check our car or anything. Gave
me paperwork for receipts and clearance for goods and off we went into
Canada.

Hope this helps.

When you say landing do you mean you already have your PR visa and have gone
through immigration process after being sponsored by your fiancee from
Canada?
If so then landing shouldnt be too difficult they will complete the paper
work and stuff with yoru passport and you will have to go to customs to hand
in copies of yoru goods with and goods to follow lists etc.

You require a written list of the goods in your trailer - a customs
declaration in fact. Check out the government's website for fuller info.

in pt 3. you mentioned local address.

could you please elaborate on it ?
How would one provide a local address if one is landing into the country for the first time ?

you give them a local address if you already know and have made arrangements to live somewhere (a relative or friend for example)... if you do not have such, then tell them that you dont... you will have 180 days from the time you land to provide the address to cic...

this obviously is for mailing out the pr card...
