we need help,
hi to anyone that can help, we applied for canada over 2 yrs ago, we heard on the 20th feb that we had to send in more forms and bank details, police clearances again by the 20th of april, well you can imagine our horror at having to try and get police clearances from the countries that we had lived in, as we had been in germany as my husband was in the brit forces and then back to england and would you believe now in new zealand where my husband took up a post with the kiwi army.. lovely might some of you think, but it isnt, i cant settle here as canada was my first choice and we love it there....
my worries and they are big worries is what happens now...where do we go from here...what are they going to ask for now and when....
i have a 19 yr old that wants to start college in july and it is a 3 yr course and a 14yr old that has another 4 yrs of school although that wont be too much of a problem with him...also what age do they consider you too old...i am 39yrs and my husband 43...
how easy is it to get work out there and what is the cost of living and what is the standard of living like...our ideal location would probably be west canada alberta way...
as you can see we are stuck now and really dont know what will happen if we are going to be accepted or not and how quickly will it all move now...we have put in the rest of our paper work, and the we are just waiting on our police clearances to which the immigration company that we are dealing with our case have said that this is ok to post these on later...does anybody know different...please somebody help me being aware and ready for things that might get asked of us including costs...
thanks

Re: we need help,
Hi Kez,
I am a kiwi living in Calgary. The permanent residence route is long but if you are using a CSIC registered agent you should not be concerned. I know a lot of people on here think all agents are scum and many in the U.K are very good at charging high prices. I used an agent who covers Calgary, Vancouver and the Okanagan (Kelowna) and got in through a sponsored work permit and will now be gaining permanent residence through an application in Sydney which should take 9-12 months. If you or your husband have a job on a provincial shortage list you should look at speeding up the process by gaining sponsorship through an employer. The agent I used can place most trades and they charge the company you will work for - not you!
Other than that, enjoy NZ while you can, its a good place but yes, Canada is great too!!!
