Default Warning to all who are new to this newsgroup ...

For your own benefit, I would like to advise you to ignore anything
that Aikido/Northernlights post here. He is unfortunately very active
in this newsgroup, although he has not helped anyone. If you browse
through all his posts and responses, it will become very obvious that
all he's doing is peck a fight with anyone whom he can successfully
annoy (and, unfortunately, he's very good at this!). He is in Canada
(most probably a permanent resident) who is bitter about his being
kicked out of his beloved country of choice (the US). He is probably
getting very delusional right now about his wrong expectations of
Canada, that he can find so much time to be creative in posting
nonsense. He knows that he's annoying so many people here, and he's
enjoying every minute of it. He's also taking advantage of the fact
that this is an unmoderated newsgroup, so no one has the power to stop
him from pursuing his maliciousness. Lastly, I believe that he is
desperately trying to "get even" with Canadian immigration by doing
his best to discourage everyone in this newsgroup to pursue their
plans to immigrate in Canada.

This NG used to be the most excellent source of free information I
have ever seen for anyone seeking ways to immigrate to Canada. Now,
thanks to him, new posters like you might INCORRECTLY view the overall
quality of this NG as something of less value. If you are one of
those, do consider the countless others who have benefitted from the
ample supply of reliable and free information about their PR
application, and have since successfully obtained their PR. Many
before you have saved valuable time and money by not making mistakes
thanks to the excellent and free advise they got here.

Add also 'Atul Patel' in this list. Just ignore their postings. That
is the best way to get rid of them.

I completely agree .. this should almost be a regular warning for the group.
The regulars are aware of people like NorthernLigths and Atul but new-comers
aren't. Best advice is to killfile and ignore them. Once they realize no one
even sees their stupid posts anymore they will eventually get bored and go
away.

If Aikido/Northern Lights25 were granted Landed Immigrant status after being
kicked out of United States, I don't know why he is complaining.
I left United States after years of green card ordeal and i don't regret
coming to Canada.
In United States, i could not travel in and out of the country freely, but
here i don't have the same problem and I was even able to apply for
citizenship here. The privileges not available to me in USA.
Nobody forces us immigrants to come here and stay. It is our choice and we
should appreciate it.

And I know personally three people in US, all from Romania, a cousin and two
high school mates, who came there as anybody else and now all three are US
citizens. All three went through the same Green Card and Citizenship process
as you partially did. My cousin came to US from Israel with a work visa, the
other two came to US with a visitor visa, they chosen not to return to
Romania, they applied for political asylum and now, as I said, they are US
citizens. Simple as that. I do not know where you are coming from, but as an
Eastern European, with no criminal record, holding a job steadily (as all
three mentioned above have done from the beginning), apparently there is no
big problem.

>and i don't regret
    > coming to Canada.

Where else you should have gone to? You went firstly to US, you did not make
it down there, you did not want to go back to your home country (this is
typical for people from underdeveloped/3rd world countries), you applied to
come to Canada, you proved that you have money to bring with you to Canada
(in case you came here as a landed immigrant), so you got your immigrant
visa. You are very happy NOT that you are in Canada right now (as you do not
know what your future will look like in, let's say, 10, 20, 30 years from
now), you are happy that you did NOT have to go back to your home country.
That's the ONLY reason why you "don't regret coming to Canada". Canada, any
Western European country, Australia, any other developed country, US as well
(where you tried first), any of these would have been way better than
returning to your home country. Am I right? Of course I am!

    > In United States, i could not travel in and out of the country freely, but
    > here i don't have the same problem and I was even able to apply for
    > citizenship here. The privileges not available to me in USA.

Do NOT try to full people around! You were not able to travel freely OUTSIDE
US only because you did not have the Green Card. The same in Canada, people
who came here as refugees, until they get their PR status, are NOT allowed
to travel outside Canada and then come back to Canada. And please, do not
tell me that, even without Green Card, you were not allowed to move around
within US borders. One of my two high school mates I know in US landed first
in Chicago, asked for political asylum and then moved, with his wife and a
baby, to Arizona where they got the Green Card approval and took the
Citizenship oath.

USA, Canada as well, are free and democratic countries. It's up to you to be
successful in being accepting in their society, it's up to you to prove that
they will benefit from you in order to issue a Green Card/PR card. But of
course, in US, if you mention that you come from an Asian/MidEast country,
if you are a Muslim, you will have a hard time to get a Green Card these
days, your life will be full of bumps and many worries. 9/11 has changed the
US society and until they get rid of all, or most of the threats against
them, they must be very vigilant with all new people coming to their
country. I fully understand them, I fully agree with them. It's their
country and they are the ONLY ones to decide about the measures in place to
protect them against any future terrorist attacks. That's why, maybe, you
have never got your Green Card, that's why you are now against US (as
clearly and easily anybody can read all your messages posted on this ng).

I agree on that.
Chris's cousins came from Israel. Jews are given preferential treatment in
USA.

I knew that Jews are given preferential treatment in their Green Card
process.
I was neither a jew nor from an ex-soviet satellite thru which I could apply
for refugee status in the United States.
You come from a country where you cannot return, while I can visit or live
in my home country any time I want.
If you love United States so much, why don't you live there?

Default Re: Warning to all who are new to this newsgroup ...

My cousin, and in fact all my family, is CHRISTIAN. I repeat: we are
Christians. My cousin left Romania in 1987 for Israel after he married a
Jewish girl, a Romanian girl from Moldavia. She, along with her sister and
mother, had had papers to immigrate to Israel, in this way my cousin landed
in Israel. Israel accepts ONLY Jewish people to immigrate to their country
(but you gotta prove it with acts). My cousin, along with his wife, left
Israel in 1994 and has been in US since. Therefore he did not come to US as
a Jew, as you quickly assumed (probably you are against Jews and the state
of Israel), simply because he is not a Jew. And his wife, a Jew indeed, was
NOT allowed to work for three years (any work), that was part of his
contract with the US company. Now they have two small kids, both born in US
(they did not have kids before). And they are still happily married. A Jew
and a Christian. Surprised? Or do you want me to remind you that PM of
Israel, Mr. Ariel Sharon, has had two wives, the first one died in 1953 in a
car crash and then he married her sister. Both wives are from Romania
(surprised again?), Margareta and Lily. Now you see the bond between
Israelis and Romanians?
Wrong, I can return anytime to my home country, actually I was there in 2000
and 2002 (funerals of my father), Romania is a free country now, communism
has been defeated for good in Eastern Europe. I have a Canadian and Romanian
passport, with the Canadian passport I can stay in Romania without any visa
for a period of 3 months.
Yes, I admire USA for their traditional values and the good they bring
around the world, Eastern Europeans are now free only because US put a
tremendous pressure on SU and its leaders. Radio Free Europe and Voice of
America, the only free radio stations we had over decades, were getting
money from the US Congress, similar with Radio Marti for Cuba.
There are hundreds of millions of people around the world who admire the
American way of solving the problems, hundreds of millions who admire the
American culture as well. And they do not live in US at all. You do not have
to leave your own country only because you admire, and you believe in
another country's system.
But to be honest with you, based on the latest "developments" within the
Canada's society, including Iraq, marijuana law, same-sex marriages, I will
not say 'no' to any opportunity would arise in my life to move south for
good. But south of the border, or anywhere in the world, I will still be a
Canadian, with a Canadian passport and the right to vote, and I will always
vote for a right-wing party.
But something it's ridiculous in your posts, on one hand you said that "I
left United States after years of green card ordeal", on the other hand you
said "I can visit or live in my home country any time I want". If you really
can live in your home country any time you want, why you had to endure such
an "ordeal" (your own words) in US, then moving to a new country, it seems
to me that the "ordeal" you have been through was way better, financially of
course, than anything you could have gotten in your home country. Therefore,
be thankful to US that they allowed you to stay in their country and earn
some good money which you now are bringing with you to Canada.

Actually you would be better off in United States than in Canada.
Your ideas are perfect match for Republican Rednecks.
As for me, I can now get my Green Card as US Immigrant Visa has been
available to me thru my US Citizen brother since August 2001. (He has
applied for me in 1989) But I have no interest in living in a country who
has no respect for international law, follows jungle law, with high crime
rate, inequalities and injustices spread all over its society.
I am already semi-retired, while you have a long way to go.

Socially, politically, spiritually, a big yes, financially? I do not know, I
already have a good job in Toronto that allows me not to worry about my
future.
But sorry, I do not understand, initially your Green Card attempt was an
ordeal for you, then you admitted that you did not get it because you are
not either a Jew or from Eastern-Europe, now, after telling you that none of
my family members and friends in US are not Jews you changed the story
saying that you got the GC since Aug. 2001. Come on man, do you think I am
stupid?
You see US with your own eyes, and you are free to do so as long as you do
not have any intentions to repeat any 9/11-like events, I see it with mine,
in my own way, my past tell me so. No Canada, France, Germany, etc., put
pressure on SU to free us, Eastern-Europeans, from communism, US did that,
and for that I will be thankful as long as I live. And for me, anywhere they
go, either was Korea, Vietnam, Somalia, Yugoslavia, Kuwait or Iraq, was/is
for a good cause, to bring freedoms and democracy, maybe a better future,
for that particular people, in many places they have succeeded, in other not
(Vietnam and Somalia), but at least they have tried it.
None of the three cases of people I personally know in US has ever told me
about "inequalities and injustices spread all over its society", but maybe
because they are white they see things differently. And about high crime
rate, in Toronto there are an average of 60-65 crimes per year, more than in
many places in US (Phoenix, Arizona is one of them), but far less than in
Detroit, LA, Chicago or NYC. Therefore, depends where you live in US. But my
cousin, in NYC (Long Island) since 1994, with two kids now, has never
complained about the crime rate, his only potential worry is a new 9/11-like
terrorist attack that might happen in his neighborhood. Otherwise his life
has never been better. The same for the other two, my old high school mates
from Romania who live now in Philadelphia and Phoenix, Arizona.
Have a nice day.
