visitor visa after PR application

Hi,
I applied for canadian immigration about 3 weeks ago. I have a H1B visa in the US, working
as a software engineer for 1.5 years. I wanted to apply for a multiple entry visitor visa
to Canada. Are there now more chances of my not getting the visa or getting a visa of a
shorter duration as I have already applied for Canadian immigration? Conversely, is my
immigration application going to affected by my applying for a visa?
Thanks for your help, Arsalan

Hi:
Your application for a visitor visa will not effect your application for Canadian
permanent residency. However, it is unlikely that you will be granted a visitor visa after
you have submitted your application for Canadian permanent residency.
Section 8 of the Immigration Act provides that the burden of proof of establishing that a
person has a right to come into Canada rests with the person seeking admission to Canada.
Section 9 of the Immigration Act provides that a person who applies to a visa officer is
presumed to be an immigrant.
Applicants for visitor visas have the onus of satisfying a visa officer that they intend
on entering Canada only temporarily. This will be difficult to do once you have applied
for Canadian permanent residency.

Thank you for your response. Just one last thing, if I withdraw my PR application and then
apply for visitor visa, are my chances of getting the visitor visa still going to be
affected by the fact that I had applied for PR?
