Visit visa and money into Canada

Dear Experts:
I need your advice on two specific issues:
1. I have over $110K to take with me when I land in January/February. I need to
know if that amount would be subject to Canadian taxes. If so, what would be
the tax rate?
2. Is it possible to apply for a tourist/visit visa to visit Canada when I have my
landing papers with me. I am not willing to use my landing papers during this
proposed trip. The justification for the travel would be to attend an invited
presentation and a consultative meeting at McMaster University in Hamilton.
Your response to these issues would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
MAA

Yes, you may seek admission to Canada as a visitor when you hold landing documents.
Admissibility as a visitor would be governed by the discretion of an immigration
official, as with other cases. Additional information on this topic may be found at
