Hi,

Could anybody give me an insight into the following matter:-

Me and my husband had to submit police certificates from 5 different
countries.
We have submitted them all shortly after applying for visa in June
2001.

I had an interview in January 2003 and was asked to provide new
certificates for all 5 contries again since the rule is that they
should be less then 1 year old when the file is close .

Unfortunately the medical exams of my husband none-accompanying child
were delayed until Sept 2003.
By the end of Sept03 we got a letter to submit updated forms, updated
photos and ROLF fees.
But, since the lawyer office did not inform us about the letter right
away we completed the submission only in the second week of Dec 2003.

Now I am getting worried they will ask us to submit Police Clearance
Certificates again. ( The first one expired last week, the rest will
expire in January and February )

Anybody has similar experience ?
Should we go ahead and ask for new Police Certificates before we are
being asked to?

Highly unlikely, don't worry. You would have been asked in Sep 03 letter if
they were needed.

Dear Andrew,

You answer was very encouraging but unfortunately you were wrong.
Today I got a letter from the consulate (Seattle) to submit new police
certificates for 4 countries we lived again.

They all became 1 year old a week or two ago .

Any idea how I can be exempted from this requirement . it will take
about 2 month to collect everything . By then our medicals will be out
of date.
We have not left North America since two years.

I'm not claiming that I was always right when it comes to predicting what
visa post will do. But it is highly unusual to ask for police certificates
from countries you were not longer residing in after such certificates have
already been submitted following January 2003 post-interview request.

Andrew Miller

No, you misunderstood. You need to submit police certificates from all
countries you resided in for 6 months or longer since your 18th birthday.

MBC already submitted updates certificates back in January/February 2003
from countries he no longer resided and it is unusual to be asked for such
again under the circumstances (he is continuously in N. America for past 2
years).

Do I understand correctly, that is I resided in two countries before I moved
to the US, and then while residing in the US, I applied to CIC for Canadian
PR, I will be asked to provide only US police certificate and FBI clearance?
No need to submit updated police clearances from two other countries?
