I am a US citizen married to a canadian. She is now with me in the US for the past
two years but we plan on moving back to Canada in the next year.

What will I have to do to immigrate to canada on a permanent basis. I have retirement
income and a good bit of savings. Before I went to Canada several times for 3 months
to a year. I just drove across and when I reached the 3 month time I would apply for
extentions. Now we want to buy a home in Canada.

Your wife can start the process in sponsoring you. Spousal sponsorships outside of
Canada can take up to one year to process through CIC in Buffalo,
N.Y.

In the alternative, your wife may want to sponsor you while you are within Canada.
Spousal sponsorships within Canada usually take approximately 10 months. However, you
will be permitted to remain in Canada while your application is processing.
