From what I read (online from the Canadian Press) the US/Canadian Border was never
closed - however they are searching everyone going through right now. Be prepared for
a long line if you plan to cross. In some places there was a four hour wait. Take

The border crossings between the US and Canada were closed for a short time on
Tuesday, but have now reopened. Lineups for vehicles entering the US from here in
B.C. are substantial -- 2 hours or more -- but not as long for cars entering Canada.
Cars are being thoroughly searched -- looking under the hood, checking all bags,
under the seats, etc. People are not being allowed to cross without sufficient
identification -- a passport or birth certificate to prove citizenship is required,
just a driver's licence is not enough. Canadians who do not have "official business"
in the US were also not being allowed through the border into the US yesterday,
though that should ease up shortly.
