Default University sealed envolopes!

Hi, we are a family (from England) with a young child hoping to emigrate to Canada. The red tape is something of a nightmare!
Could anyone help us with a few queries:

1) University sealed envolopes: How strict are they with this demand. Do your certificate have to be sealed in an official envolope? We have applied for copies of our certificates - will that suffice?

2) Obtaining every last particular of their job demands i.e Each place you have worked must be chronicled with an official letter, business card etc . Again how strict are they with this?

3) In your experience how long after application does it take to get a decision? (We know there'll be no hard or fast rules on this but any feedback would be appreciated)

4) Finally, Vancouver, Montreal or Toronto - what do you reckon?!

Thanks in anticipation.

your uni certificates do have to be in a sealed envelope from the university. this is to protect from fraud.

in my opinion, where there are thousands and thousands of applications, you need to make every effort to follow the guidelines, even if it takes a few months to get all the info together. i think this is normal in most cases. you wouldn't want to be rejected because you made a mistake. i don't know if that happens but i've heard of lots of people having to redo their photos because they don't follow the precise guidelines. for me, i know i don't want any unnecessary delays caused by human error.

don't be put off. good luck!

Rubbish...The crime rate in Van is much worse than in Ontario or Quebec,
just look on the Statscan site. Van has a serious drug problem, and has the
dubious distinction of being the car-theft capital of North America.

K - if you're looking for a nicer version of England, you'll probably like
SW Ontario (Waterloo region, Cambridge, London). It's a very developed,
peaceful, relatively affordable area.

Hi,

We are also a family from England with 3 children applying to emigrate to
Canada.

I would say it's taken me a good few months to get my application together.
I would say that the more thorough and to the letter you are with getting
all the documents that CIC ask for , the less lightly that your application
will get held up once you apply.

I got copies of all my college certificates and also asked City & Guilds to
send me sealed transcripts of my exams. The transcripts are the syllabus you
did for your exams and are a separate thing to your final certificate. If
you contact the board or Uni you took your exams with they will send you
'sealed transcripts' with an official stamp across the sealed envelope that
you must not open!

If you are applying to London CIC, I've heard the timeline is approx 15 to
20 months, I think it depends on if you have lived in other countries then
the background checks take longer! If you've always lived in the UK, it
shouldn't take too long for your application to be processed. I do think
that there will be a rush of applications now that the pass mark has been
lowered to 67 points.

Good Luck.

Alison.

One wonders what happens when the university cannot provide a
transcript. Some universities do not keep detailed records for more
than a few years, incredible though that may seem.

it's not certificates but transcripts and most if not all UK universities
should provide you with such. it took mine just 2 weeks to get.
