Having a relative in US for a student visa is a red flag in Nigeria. I had no choice.

Be aware that there are now new regulations in Canada governing International Post-graduate students beginning with a cap on the number of permits to be issued for the school year beginning September 2024 (ie, this year), and also governing the number of hours that can be worked under such a visa, and where. The number of permits/visas includes all the students already studying i n Canada or already accepted, so the number for new entrants will be much less. The number of visas per province will also be controlled, and Ontario has the largest number of International Students in the countyr so the number of visas allotted to that province will be reduced by 50%.

As regards funding ............... most graduate students in Canada are funded by grants obtained by their supervisory professor and/or by the department or university. BUT funding will not usually include a stipend + housing + fees. The stipend will be expected to cover all other costs, so a student needs to have other money available, as in scholarships, grants, teaching assistant salary, etc.

I would be very suspicious of an offer such as the OP is describing!
