Hi there,

If the company i work for in the UK wanted me to do some research for 6 months to get there products into Canada would i need to obtain a work permit? Also does that mean the UK company needs to get a LMO

A UK company cannot get an LMO. If you are working for a UK company and wanting to come to Canada to do their market research you would tell immigration you are on business and what you are doing. They decide if they let you in as a business visitor or not and for how long. If your intention is only to do this and then leave likely not a problem.
