TW vs SW Applying for both at same time???
Can anyone out there advise me and OH.
We are sending off resumes at the mo and wonder should we also apply for SW at the same time. If we dont get TW for months and months would it be better to have SW process already started seeing as it takes 3-5 years!!!!
Would this just be a waste of money and time.
If TW is successful is it better to apply for PR when living in Canada.
What a confusing minefield!! Fellow BE's please help.

I would submit your SW application and continue to apply for jobs then when you have a permanent job and out in Canada then update your file with a letter from your Canadian employer see if this expedites the SK application.

I do know that you can get awarded points for already having "arranged employment" when you submit SW application - some people question whether it does expedite your visa application. From what I have seen though if you go over on a WP and THEN apply for your SW visa they seem to be expedited this way around.
Personally, hubby is over there on a WP and when we all get there then we will apply from within Canada for our PR application as my hubby's employment there is of a permanent nature.
Hope this helps

Once you have a job offer you must then decide how quickly you want to be in Canada.
If you are wanting to get there ASAP then he TWP is the way to go and then apply from Canada with evidence that you job can be made permanent for PR.
If you are prepared to wait you can get your employer to get an Arranged Employment Offer and use this to apply for PR. They do expedite these applications 6months ~ 1 yr VRS the 4-5 yrs that SW-PR's take without AEO.

(a) If you get TWP and perm job offer and THEN apply for SW you will get additional points for arranged employment, and have application fast tracked.
(b) If you get apply for SW THEN get TWP and perm job offer you might get additional points for arranged employment and have application fast tracked.
We did route (b) and have been fast tracked. Applied SW Jan 06, and added TWP & perm job offer in Dec 06.
