Default travel after applying for citizenship

i will be completing 1095 days of residence in canada in the third week of may and plan to apply for citizenship then . soon after, i may have to travel to india for 2 weeks. would this in anyway cause a problem or delay in my app for citizenship?

since i have been outside canada for 140 days in the last 42 months i am given to understand that i may be asked to submit a copy of my passport after i submit my application. if so, when should i expect such a request ?

incase they do ask for passport photocopies, it would have to be sent after my return and would show that i have travelled outside canada after applying - would this have any effect to my application ?

informed replies are gratefully appreciated.

If you apply as soon as you are 'eligible', you run the risk of
miscalculating and that - or your trip to India - could cause you to be, in
all reality, ineligible.

If you're worried that you're so close that a simple vacation may affect
your application, just wait until you get back from India and apply then.
In all reality, it won't make much difference. Better to hold off for a
month than to have longer days because of a miscalculation.

Travelling after you apply will make no difference, but as Iamnot... says, if you are that close to the cut off number it is probably safer to wait a couple of weeks in case you misscount. As it takes 10 to 12 months from start to finish, a couple of weeks delay in applying to ensure you have the 1095 days, is not going to make a lot of difference.

As far as passport request goes, it could happen even if you have only been out of Canada a handfull of days. My application was received in early June, and my passport requested in Mid September, when they started to process me. My test was in late Feb, and I am still waiting on the ceremony (late April???)

Good Luck

Those couple of weeks can make months of difference - if applicant is short
of 1,095 days (even 1 day) then application will take few to several months
longer to process and s/he most likely be called for hearing with
citizenship judge - this will also add processing time.
