Translation of foreign birth certificates in the U.S.
Hello,
My husband and I are applying for the Skilled Worker path at Buffalo, but we are not American citizens, and our birth certificates are not in English or French.
The CIC website says that such documents need to be accompanied by a certified (notarized) translation. Normally we would know how to get such translations in our home country, but since we are in the U.S., it would be very difficult to do it like that, so we are looking for other ways to get translations.
Will it be enough if we translated the documents ourselves (in English), signed a claim that they were true translations or something like that, and had a notary public verify the signatures? If not, what other ways are there?
Thanks!

Hi
Did you try the yellow pages under translations services or Google for your area? No CHC will not accept your translation.

Thanks for your reply. do you think they will accept a certified translation from an agency such as this: http://www.ultratranslate.com/contact/faq.html#two?
Here is a part of an e-mail I got from them. They claim USCIS accepts their translations - does that mean there is a good chance CIC will accept them too?
"We at Ultra Translate would be pleased to translate your document. We provide certified and notarized translations with quality paper and inks, all according to INS/State Department guidelines. The translation comes with a 100% guarantee policy of US government acceptance, if that is who they are intended for. We are certified by the U.S. government and internationally recognized American Translators Society (A.T.S.) as fully qualified and accredited to translate your documents."
Thanks!

One more thing: we will also send Buffalo copies of the original non-English documents - do those need to be certified in any way? We are also wondering if we need to certify the copies of those documents that are originally in English.
Thank you very much for your help!
