No indication there was a problem in Mississauga as far as I'm aware, plus your package only got there last week. Don't expect a confirmation until 2nd week of June-ish

Thanks Jim. That's a little reassuring I guess. Also having read a second press release, it seems they are doing a work to rule thing rather than a total stoppage. So that means no overtime, no stepping outside your job description, taking the full allocated time for breaks and lunchbreaks etc. So hopefully you're right - a little slower but not a grinding halt!

And we're in! My hubby's PR form came in the post yesterday! At 4pm I said to him, "shall we just go?" and he said yes so we drove to the border (5.5 hr drive each way). One slightly cranky US border guard and one very kind and benevolent Canadian immigration officer about to go off shift later, and we have his signed PR form. We're a little sleep deprived but it's worth it to have it done, moving on up!

It's all in the spreadsheet for 2012, but in a nutshell, posted late Nov 12; received Mississauga 4/12/12; sponsor approved 9/1/13; in process 30/4/13 (with some minor additional info requests); Decision Made (undated, but probably yesterday or today).
(Scottish Maple - can you please update my details on the spreadsheet - many thanks)
So about 6 months all in
Now to get working on a GTF list for her "landing" later this summer.

Orly,
I wonder if mine was completed quicker than yours because I've been married for a bloody long time (less need perhaps to scrutinise our "relationship"), whereas you are still a relative "newly-wed"? Just a thought....?
Nonetheless, I'm sure it'll get sorted quickly for you. Best of luck with it. If I could, I'd swap our timelines, as we are not now likely to be heading for a little while yet, whereas I know you're sweating on a deadline.

Just hoping I don't get to the stage where my time has expired and I'm still waiting for news. Still stuck on "application received" so hasn't even gone to "in process" which is concerning. I know some people never go "in process" so I'm not letting that worry me too much.
Not really sure what the hold up is. I don't know why being married for a shorter period of time would cause things to go slower. They have our marriage certificate and plenty of evidence of me sending money to Canada in advance to pay for our wedding. Flight tickets from times I visited. Evidence of my first IEC visa in 2010 when I came to Canada and lived with my wife. When that visa was due to expire I left Canada as required and didn't overstay. I still live with my wife (lol) and I've got a good job here. I pay my taxes :P Switched over my driving license etc. Had joint bank accounts for coming on 3 years. Nothing indicates I'm playing a game or not "integrating" myself.
I've thought about all the things that could slow it up but I'm at a loss. No issues have been reported to me after my medical (which they've listed as received on eCAS) and I've never even had a speeding ticket let alone any criminal problems. No one in my family has a shady past. I've never traveled anywhere out of the ordinary. Only really been to the US, Canada and Hungary for a week one time. Always lived in the UK too and was educated at a UK university. I know they spend time doing "background checks" but there is nothing iffy about my background at all. It's all very ordinary. I know the application itself was complete and accurate because we specifically hired a lawyer to help us through it. A lawyer other family members had used in the past with success.
Asked my lawyer to nudge them and see if there is any indication of what stage they're at. I'd just like to know so I can figure out plans with my employer. Seen plenty of stories on here from people who send an enquiry and it seems to spark them into life so perhaps we'll be lucky. I think we're due some luck after the last month or so with 2 deaths on both sides of the family, multiple car troubles and such like. That's life I guess.

I fully accept I'm a name on a screen and the officer isn't paid to "care" about me any more than the next guy and has a checklist to complete. Still frustrating though.

Sorry for your troubles Orly.
The 'length of time married' was just a random suggestion based on nothing at all, other than wondering why there is now a difference in our timelines!
Hang in there man!

I feel for you Orly , the closer it gets , the more anxiety and almost mania presents with checking the threads , email , and ecas. I told myself I would not check again until next week , but then I saw oppsbuddy had some good news. We can't be too much longer.
Can't wait to just move on from all of this.
