Three questions

I've been lurking here for some time now and am impressed by the willingness of those
with expertise to share it. Learned a bunch just by reading. Now I have some
questions of my own...

Applying as a spouse within Canada:

1. My passport was not stamped when we crossed the border; the checklist specifies
that a photocopy of such a stamped page from the passport be included. Will this
pose a problem? If so, is there a solution? (I do have a Visitor Record, but that
only has an expirary date on it.)

2. US citizens who served in the military have to file "additional documents". I
phoned the Call Centre and received a photocopied form that appears to be just
authorization to release personal information, which must be signed and
notarized. Do I just include this in the package upon submission then? (There
were no instructions included.)

3. The instructions re: medical exams are kind of ambiguous. It doesn't say the
sponsoring spouse must have one, but it does say all family members of the
applicant over a certain age must -- but this is in the section dealing with
dependent children. So, does my wife need to be examined as well?

Thanks in advance for the help.

The vistor record in your case replaces the stamp in your passport. Send a copy of
the record.

Hi:

In reply:

1. Just provide photocopies of your passport pages that have stamps. You may want to
provide a copy of your visitor record. It should not pose a problem as CIC is
aware that often times passports are not stamped.

2. It may be a good idea to include the authorization so as to prevent any delays in
the processing of your application.

3. The sponsor does not have to obtain a medical. However, the applicant must. In
other words, only you have to obtain a medical examination.

Yours truly, Ingrid Y. Chen, B.A., LL.B.

Make that four questions, I guess.

Would someone explain just what this means?

"• An Option-C printout (which is an original computer printout of most recent Notice
of Assessment) and a computer printout of ALL income slips (e.g., T4, T4E, T5,
T5007). These printouts may be obtained free-of-charge from the Canada Customs and
Revenue Agency (formerly, Revenue Canada)."

The fellow we talked to at CCRA seemed to have no idea what we were talking about...

You need to talk to a different fellow in CCRA as such printouts are a standard thing
when requested.
