Default Temporary working visa

Hay Folks,

Due to not being able to qualify under the SWL at present, we are considering applying for the Temp working visa instead.

We would really appreciate it if you could offer some advice on the process.

e.g How long it took to get granted, how long it was granted for, costs, any problems u had getting it, when you arrived, securing a job before hand, getting a vehicle, insurance, bank acct etc etc

We are looking at Alberta so info re there would be much better.

Thanks

Do you mean a Temporary Work Permit? Or a Working Holiday Visa?

If the former, then presumably you are aware that you need a job offer first, then your potential employer has to apply for a Labour Market Opinion (to prove that they've advertised the job across Canada and been unable to find a Canadian willing, or able, to do the job) - only once you've got that can you apply for a TWP.

Given that there are people on this forum who have been looking for an employer prepared to give them a job offer and go through the above for them for a couple of years without success, you may find that it's easier and quicker to just apply for PR once the quota reopens.

Re: bank accounts/cars etc - info is in the Wiki about all of this, so have a hunt in there. There is also much more info about TWP's etc.

If it's a Working Holiday Visa you're talking about, then ignore all of the above!
