Default study permit and work permit

Hi im new to this board and would like some advice . I have been arranging through a immigration consultant to come to Canada. I have been issued a study permit to study at a college in Canada , I have to do a 2 year course .
My husband is given a work permit and hopefully then go down the route
of LMO as he is a skilled worker and hopefully after working for a Company they will offer him a full time position and then we can apply for permenant
residency. Has anyone else gone down this route and has it worked out ok.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

Your husband doesn't need a LMO if he's got an open work permit, once he's got the permanent job offer he can apply for PR as a FSW if he's eligible.

Lots of people have applied for FSW category 2 and been granted PR, so assuming that your husband meet the criteria i.e. 'skilled' job/permanent job offer/points score/passes the medical etc then hopefully his PR application will be ok.

HTH, good luck.

thanks for the information. My husband is a mobile crane operator
and although when he comes over to Canada he will have to take his red seal and airbrakes before he gets a job on the cranes but hope he can go down the route of PR asap

In which case, he doesn't even need a job offer, or to wait until he gets to Canada - crane operators are on the list of 29 eligible occupations for FSW (category 1), so no job offer is required. Assuming he has enough points, he could apply for PR now so that at least it's underway before you go to Canada.

Hi thanks for your reply. My husband lacks in points due to High School exams and his age(53) this year. so this is the only way we could come
to Canada by me attending college and him getting the work visa.has had 28 years experience though of being a Mobile crane operator.
so thats why they are saying he may have to go lmo route.

Ah, I see. That's a shame.

He still won't need a LMO though (as he's got an open work permit) - he just needs a permanent job offer.

Good luck!
