Study and Migration
If my wife signed up to study for six months in Canada, I will get a work permit.
If I will find a job at McDonald's Or supermarket goods sorter, can I apply for PR? (provincial nominee program of Alberta/Nova Scotia/Manitoba/Saskatchewan).
Thanks for the answers

1. How will you get a work permit?
2. You can only apply for a Provincial Nominee if a company will back you / say they need you to work.
3. McDonalds isn't gonna do that.

You do need to have worked for your employer full time for a minimum period though, around 6 months I think but varies by province. You also still need to be working for your employer when going through the pnp so I dont think it could be done with only 6 month on your visa . You might be able to get another temporary work permit with your employer though. McDonalds, tim hortons, subway etc actually sponsor lots of people since they struggle to keep and recruit staff. Lots of them have open LMO's.
Best of luck

Thats good then! I know Ontario / Quebec are picky as hell.
I think you'll need to have some experience / background / managerial role to be consider, because in the end it still comes down to the NOC.
I find it hard to believe that I cannot get an LMO for being a Forensics specialist with 2 master's yet McDonalds can get one? It doesnt seem like it would work in many provinces?

I know its mad isnt it. Maybe you should move, west is best as they say It does depend on the province and their economy though. With both BC and Alberta's economy having a heavy reliance on Tourism they need to have an entry level/semi skilled stream to address the persistent labour shortages in that area. Ontario has a different economy and so there is no semi skilled stream. Obviously its not necessarily skills that get you a LMO in these jobs it's that there's no Canadian's willing to do it for any length of time. (crap pay, long hours, seasonal etc) You don't need to be a manager just working in one of the listed eligible occupations, bartender, server, kitchen helper, hotel front desk are all listed as eligible occupations. In northeast BC any job in Noc C and D is eligible under a new pilot project. My roommate got his PR as a barman and lots of friends have got there's working front desk at hotels

By the way I'm working as a hotel front desk receptionist (5 years exp.), do you think that I have a chance to find a job in Alberta/BC?

If you have an open work permit issued because of your wife's study permit then I don't think you would have a problem getting a job with 5 years hotel experience. If you don't have a work permit already it would be much harder to get the job in the 1st place but still possible. Maybe try calling some of the big hotels to see if any are recruiting foreign staff. I'd say expect lots of knockbacks but be persistent almost to the point of stalking. Good luck

Presumably, a Spousal Open Work Permit off the back of his wife's Study Permit, which would be the norm.
Not true, there are several PNP streams where no employer backing is required, or even a job offer in some cases.
Actually, food and beverage servers would come under BC and AB's low or semi-skilled PNP streams, so it's perfectly possible to get PR via PNP for somebody that works in McD's.
HTH.

So sad! I cannot believe this! I have been working my ass off to stay in my company for the sake of immigration, working unpaid overtime, and jumping through every hoop possible, and the only way I can get in is through spousal. Totally shoulda hit up Ronald McDonald
