Hi all. I am very possibly heading out to Vancouver from England in September to
study. I have my student authorization from the Canadian High Commission and am just about ready to go. I was wondering if anyone has any advice about setting up my finances in Canada. Am I able to open a bank account there? I won't be able to work but I will need a local account to which I can funnel funds from my UK accounts. If anyone has experience with this kind of query please let me know. Cheers, Mike |

Do also apply for a Social Insurance Number (SIN) at the nearest Human Resources and Development Canada office in case you get a job on campus. Remember that you cannot get paid without a SIN.
