Student Permit Processing Times?

Student Permit Processing Times?
Guys - Do you know if the student permits are in the same queue as work permits?
I was in CIC on Tuesday 15th May to submit my student permit and hubby's open work permit... they told us 6-8 weeks.
Can we hope for it before then?
Are they just being 'generous' with their predictions??

Nope, I would say that they are being reasonable because people are now applying for fall intake!
