As long as you don't have a complicated case you should be able to go through this process without the 'help' of an immigration consultant. There are lots of people on here going it alone and there is always someone who has been through what you have been through. I have never been disappointed with the advice and support that members are willing to offer.
I would be tempted to ask for money back as your consultant has clearly given you misleading or incorrect information that could have had a massive impact on you and your son's futures.
Best wishes and good luck with the rest of your application!

I'm starting to wish I had never bothered with the help of an immigration consultant are case is simple really I guess we thought at the time it was better to use professionals!! apparently not!! This site has been more than helpful and the advice I have been given has saved my son and I from what would have been drastic!!
I will be calling the immigration people Monday with my backup of information and as you quite rightly say money back!!
Cheers guys Jack

Hi guys
Thank you all very much for the help and advice!! I'm now clear in what I have to do.....
I started to panic when I read that I would not be able to sponsor my son if he was not added to my current application.
I'm actually really cross because my consultant who has been paid a considerable amount of money to take care of everything failed to notice this!!
Had I gone ahead with the application as it was I would not have been able to sponsor my son in the future!!
But now all I do is put him on my application as a non accompanying and have his medical checks done, So then at least in the future the option for sponsorship is available.
Will be on the case first thing Monday morning!!
Thanks everybody for the very helpful information, without it My son and I may well have been screwed!!

Personally, after a critical error like that, I would be firing him.
