Squeaky Wheel?

I work in the provincial government of BC and my wife is an American. She is living
with me and we are going through the "process". Working in a bureacracy I know those
that are pushy can sometimes get ahead of the line, or work around official
timelines. Basically once they shout and scream enough someone makes sure they get
service faster.
We all now what a ridiculous amount of time we have to wait to have things processed.
I was wondering if maybe calling Immigration and voicing my disatisfaction with their
time lines may get things moving. Or are they petty enough to delay or terminate our
request to punish me for my harrassment?
Has any one called them on their ridiculous delays?

Hi:
Telephoning really does not help. The call center will just advise you as to the
current status of your application.
We have found that faxing a letter to the attention of the Immigration or Visa
Officer who has conduct over a particular file helps. We often get responses within a
couple of days. But, you can expect to be ignored if you are within the published
standard processing time.
Yours truly, Ingrid Y. Chen, B.A., LL.B.
