Spouse sponsorship - Vegreville timelines
Hi,
I am a Canadian permanent resident.
On July 15, 2002 I applied for permanent residence from within Canada for my wife.
I did not receive anything yet from Vegreville.
Does anybody know the timelines on sponsorship for inland spouse?
Has anybody that has applied after July 1, 2002, received Acknowledgement of Receipt by now?
Please post any information about these timelines that you know.
Thank you

There are still people who's applications started processing in March and
April who have not received the AIP yet. The call centre says they are still
processing february's and are looking at about a 6-7 month timeline from
applying to AIP so that would put a July application as receiving the AIP
around January/February next year. However if they work through their
backlog maybe it will happen faster.

Re: Spouse sponsorship - Vegreville timelines
Yep our app was received March 4 and we're still waiting. Apparently they stopped processing PR applications from within for a time and started back up around Oct 1. Some have also been told by CIC phone lines that they are working on Feb 15 applications right now.
Hang in there, I know how tough it is!

Out of curiousity, how do you know that they have stopped processing for a certain period of time?
We submitted our application in November 2001 and got AIP in Feb 2002, and we haven't heard from CIC since then. In late August we called and we were told the background check is still in progress.
In September we called again and they said our status on their computer system hasn't changed.

Re: Spouse sponsorship - Vegreville timelines
For Carol:
Usually inland applicants don't recieve AOR, they just receive AIP right
away. timelines for AIP now is 5 to 8 months.
For Saotome:
i've got a close friend who's working in CIC Vegreville they almost stop
processing starting 2nd week of may to Sept. They were still processing but
they prioritize the work, visit applicants because they have expiration.
All in all they were too slow in the past few months and they were now
speeding it up now at this moment. I'm so glad that there is somebody got
there AIP's right now from February applicants so in-land applications were
now moving.....good luck to all of us.

Re: Spouse sponsorship - Vegreville timelines
I heard the same thing. The reason they stopped processing is because they
had to go on trainning for the new legistaltion that was put in place, and
then (know someone that works in the call center in Toronto) lot's of them
took vacation time .. then when they came back they put priority on the
school visas then work permits....
My application started processing on March 1st and I just got (3 days ago)
my AOP. They approved it on Oct 1st and sent it Oct 2nd....
Hope this is what you where looking for.
