Spousal disaster
Does anyone have any input on what they think may be the outcome of this scenario:
Cdn male marries Malaysian female and sponsors her and her two children from within Canada (BC). At this point the female and children have been getting regular extensions while living in BC and have been in Canada approx 20 months. The couple were married in BC and after approx four months of marriage the sponsor and spouse have a falling out based on irreconcilable differences. Just prior to the falling out the spouse's paperwork had been transferred to the local Vancouver CIC center.
1) Could the sponsor destroy the application by starting a divorce?
2) Could the sponsor spoil the application by defamatory statements to CIC?
4) Is an interview typical in this kind of case?
3) Will the sponsor (Husband) be required at an interview?
5) Is it true that after three years the female and children automatically gain citezenship based on their duration of stay?
Even best guesses will be appreciated.
Thx.

Depends if approval in principle received. If AIP not received, and sponsor
withdraws application then CIC will then probably refuse sponsorship. But
first they will probably interview sponsor and P.I. to see why marriage
broke down and if it was a marriage of convenience.

Yes

Separate interviews.

No. You have to be a permanent resident to apply for citizenship. If you
are the PI, you probably should hire a either an Immigration consultant or
an immigration lawyer. There is a good chance that CIC will decide to
remove you from Canada.
